1. Refund Policy Overview

At Carpenterji, we strive to provide high-quality carpentry services through our verified carpenter network. This Refund Policy outlines the circumstances under which refunds are issued. Please read this policy carefully to understand your rights and limitations.

Important Notice: Refunds are only issued in specific circumstances as outlined below. Most payments are non-refundable once work has commenced or items have been purchased.

2. Consultation & Visiting Charges (Rs. 250/-)

When Visiting Charges Are Non-Refundable

  • Once the carpenter has visited your location for inspection
  • Visiting charges are retained to cover the carpenter's time and travel expenses
  • This fee is deducted from your final project cost if you proceed

When Visiting Charges May Be Refunded

  • If you cancel before the scheduled visit and provide notice at least 24 hours in advance
  • If Carpenterji cancels the assignment due to carpenter unavailability
  • If your request is outside the service area (identified after submission)

3. Advance Payments (50% - Milestone 1)

Non-Refundable Scenarios

After the carpenter has conducted the site inspection and the first task milestone has commenced, no refunds will be issued under any circumstances. This includes:

  • Cancellations after the carpenter visits for consultation
  • Cancellations after work has begun
  • Changes of mind or project modifications
  • Delays due to customer unavailability
  • Personal emergencies or unforeseen circumstances

Exceptions to Non-Refundable Policy

Refunds of advance payments may only be issued if:

  • Customer cancels before the consultation/visiting charge is deducted (site inspection not yet conducted)
  • Carpenterji cancels due to carpenter unavailability or system error
  • The project is deemed impossible to execute due to factors beyond the customer's control (documented)
  • Payment was processed twice (duplicate charge)

Refund Processing

Eligible refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 5-7 business days. Please note that bank processing times may add 2-3 additional days. We recommend verifying your payment method details are correct before initiating any refund.

4. Item Purchases & Material Charges

Non-Refundable After Purchase

Once materials or items have been purchased as per the Scope of Work, no refunds are available for the material cost. This includes:

  • Custom-cut wood and materials specific to your project
  • Specialty items or hardware ordered on your behalf
  • Paints, finishes, and protective coatings
  • Any partially used materials

Material Defects or Damage

If purchased materials arrive damaged or defective, the carpenter will facilitate replacement with the supplier at no additional cost to you. This must be reported within 24 hours of delivery.

5. Warranty & After-Service Coverage

6-Month Warranty (No Additional Charges)

All projects include a 6-month warranty covering:

  • Manufacturing defects (poor joinery, finishing issues)
  • Craftsmanship defects (structural weaknesses, alignment problems)
  • Material failures (due to manufacturing defect, not use)

Warranty Exclusions (Not Covered)

  • Normal wear and tear from regular use
  • Damage due to misuse, abuse, or impact
  • Environmental damage (moisture, extreme temperature, pest damage)
  • Modifications made by someone other than the original carpenter
  • Fading, color changes, or aesthetic aging
  • Damage after the 6-month warranty period expires

Post-Warranty Services

After the 6-month warranty period, any repairs, maintenance, or modifications are chargeable at the carpenter's standard rates or hourly fees.

6. Partial Refunds

In rare cases where a customer requests cancellation of specific items from a multi-item project (before work begins), Carpenterji may consider a partial refund on a case-by-case basis. Such requests must be made in writing with clear justification and are subject to approval by our management. Any approved partial refund will be calculated after deducting:

  • Consultation/visiting charges already incurred
  • Any materials already purchased
  • Carpenter's preparation time and design work

7. Faulty or Incomplete Work

Incomplete Projects

If a project is not completed to the agreed Scope of Work specifications, the customer should notify Carpenterji within 48 hours of project completion. The carpenter will be required to complete the remaining work at no additional cost. If the carpenter is unable to complete the work:

  • We will attempt to assign an alternative carpenter to complete the work
  • If completion is impossible, a partial refund may be issued for incomplete portions (case-by-case basis)

Poor Workmanship During Warranty Period

If you identify workmanship defects within the 6-month warranty period, contact us immediately with documentation (photos/videos). We will:

  • Have the carpenter assess and rectify the issue at no cost
  • If unresolved, assign an alternative carpenter to fix the problem
  • In extreme cases where repair is impossible, a full or partial refund may be considered

8. Payment Processing Issues

Duplicate Charges

If you are charged twice for the same transaction due to a system error, we will investigate and issue a full refund for the duplicate charge within 5 business days.

Failed Transactions

If a payment fails but is still deducted from your account, contact our support team immediately with transaction details. We will verify and process a refund if confirmed.

Fraudulent Charges

If you dispute a charge as fraudulent, we recommend:

  • Contacting your bank or payment provider immediately
  • Notifying our support team with detailed information
  • Providing proof of unauthorized transaction

We will cooperate with your bank's investigation and provide documentation as needed.

9. How to Request a Refund

Step-by-Step Process

  2. Provide your project ID, transaction details, and reason for refund
  3. Attach any relevant documentation (receipts, photos, correspondence)
  4. Our team will review and respond within 48 business hours
  5. If approved, the refund will be processed within 5-7 business days

10. Disputes & Escalation

If you are unsatisfied with a refund decision, you have the right to escalate your complaint:

  1. Submit a formal dispute within 30 days of receiving the refund decision
  2. Include detailed justification and supporting evidence
  3. Carpenterji management will review and provide a final decision
  4. All disputes are governed by Indian consumer protection laws

11. Policy Changes & Updates

Carpenterji reserves the right to update this Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon publication on our website. For projects commenced before the policy change, the policy in effect at the time of project initiation will apply.

12. Consumer Rights & Legal Recourse

This Refund Policy is supplementary to your rights under applicable Indian consumer protection laws, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. If you believe we have violated your consumer rights, you may file a complaint with your local consumer protection authority or approach the relevant courts in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
